Sep. 22nd, 2021 09:25 amWe need to campaign, sign a petition, or write letters to MPs, or whatever - just do something - to remove the words "strong and free" from our national anthem. These clearly no longer reflect Canadian national values and only serve as a stark reminder of the violent and lawless past of our country. No one needs to be free in modern society, people need to be safe and happy. So change it to"The True North, Safe and Happy!"
We also must remove the mention of "God" from the Anthem, or, otherwise, we need to clarify in the lyrics that it is not that particular "God" (you know what I mean, right?) but all the multitude of gods, spirits, demons, and other imaginary friends people choose to believe in. Also, the choice of those who prefer not to have an imaginary friend should be equally respected and reflected in the anthem. After all, as a truly inclusive and tolerant society, we should have zero tolerance for such a blatant show of intolerance!
We know that it is not some "God" but our beloved Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who keeps our land green and progressive. So let's sing now "O Canada, Justin Trudeau stands on guard for thee"
Old, bad Canada died yesterday. People have clearly shown their choice. Let's build a better, new Canada together!
